The Man Who Circled The Block

A man arrived late to a busy city downtown where all the good parking spaces were taken. Circling the block for twenty minutes, he grew increasingly desperate.

Finally, he crossed his fingers, hoping that if he circled the block one more time he will find a good parking spot.

Just as he finished his superstitious ritual, a car ahead pulled out of a halfway decent spot right in front of him. It was only a ten minute walk from where he needed to go.

The man looked up immediately and frowned, “Never mind, I can find a better one.”

And he drove on, refusing to take a lesser parking spot.

He circled the block for another hour.

Eventually, all of the parking spots were gone, the good ones, the decent ones, and the bad ones.

He crossed his fingers again, but this time added, “And this time, I want it closer to the entrance.”

He is still circling to this day.
